Terms of Use
Last updated: October 22, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and ScopeLock, based in Ontario, Canada. By creating an account or using ScopeLock, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.
1. What ScopeLock does
ScopeLock lets you record the scope of work you agreed with a client, lock it as an unchangeable version, turn new requests into priced change orders, and collect your client’s decision through a secure link.
ScopeLock is not an accounting, invoicing, project-management or e-signature service, and nothing in it is legal, tax or financial advice. A client’s decision recorded in ScopeLock is evidence of what they saw and chose; whether it creates or changes a binding contract depends on your agreement with your client and the law that applies to it.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16 and able to enter into this agreement, and use ScopeLock for your business or professional work.
- Keep your sign-in details secure. You’re responsible for activity in your account.
- Give accurate information, and keep your email address up to date so we can reach you.
3. Your content
You own the content you add, including client details, scopes, change orders and documents. You give us permission to store, copy and display it only as needed to provide ScopeLock to you, including showing change orders to the clients you send them to.
You’re responsible for your content and for having the right to add it, including your clients’ personal information. Locked scope versions and recorded client decisions can’t be edited; that is how ScopeLock keeps a reliable record.
4. Approval links
Anyone with an approval link can view that change order and respond to it, so share links only with the right person. You can cancel a link at any time. We may refuse or limit requests to protect the service.
5. Acceptable use
Don’t use ScopeLock to break the law, mislead or harass anyone, upload malware, or try to access accounts or data that aren’t yours, disrupt the service, or work around its limits or security.
6. Plans and payment
- The Free plan has limits described in the app. Paid plans are auto-renewing subscriptions sold through Apple’s App Store.
- Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Apple charges your Apple account, renews the subscription until you cancel, and handles cancellations and refunds under its own terms.
- If a subscription ends, your data stays. You can still view and export it; creating new projects beyond the Free limit requires a plan.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep ScopeLock available and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep your own copies of important records using the export feature. We may change or improve features; if a change significantly reduces what you paid for, we’ll tell you in advance.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using ScopeLock and delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.
9. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent the law allows, ScopeLock is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, or for disputes between you and your clients. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it arose. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can’t be waived.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before they apply. If you keep using ScopeLock after that, the new terms apply.
